Wing, left
Register 1: saint John the Baptist holding the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei); seated Virgin and Child; two angels crowning the Virgin; musician angels playing string instruments; saint James the Greater with pilgrim's hat, staff and satchel; satchel decorated with a scallop shell.
Register 2: saint Denis in prison receiving the last communion from Christ; angel holding a chalice; altar. Burning of saint Denis in the furnace.
Wing, right
Register 1: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; Longinus piercing Christ's side; Stephaton giving Christ vinegar; Stephaton holding a bucket; sun and moon.
Register 2: Flagellation of saint Denis; saint Denis thrown to the lions; trees.
Border of dentils. Pointed trefoils in the spandrels.

Berliner 1926 and Museum's opinion 2014: France, 2nd half of the 14th century.

Collection of Ludwig Joseph von Welden, prince-bishop of Freising; collection of Andreas Ulrich Mayr (b. 1732, d. 1802), councillor and chaplain at the court of the Regensburg prince-bishops (Regensburger Fürstbischöflichen Rat und Hofkaplan): his sale, 1803, lots 178 and 179; acquired at this sale for the royal collections; transferred from the Königliche Vereinigte Sammlungen to the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich in 1866.
