Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: most of the body of Christ Child (except right foot), right hand of the Virgin; metal crown.
Scoring along crown indent.
Broken and cracked in several places.

Comments
According to Randall (1985), the treatment of the eyes characteristic of English work.

Bought from Léon Gruel by Henry Walters in Paris in 1914; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
