Side 1: Head of a young man (Youth). Inscription: 'ARMT'.
Side 2: Skull (Death); vermin; worms; snakes; toads; lizard.
Side 3: Head of a lady; brooch; engraved inscriptions 'RAMT'; 'V' (in the brooch); 'STA MARIA Opro nobi' (below the head).
Side 4: Head of an old woman (Old Age); below: engraved inscription: 'JAM MORTHEM' or 'DAM MORTHEM'.

Museum's opinion 2013: Germany, 16th century.


Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: red (hair, clothes).

Carved in the round.Three labels attached to the bottom of the pilaster, with the inscriptions: '118 Vente Paris 10 juin 1932'; 'COLLECTION DU DR P. THOBY NANTES XV'; 'EXPOSITION D'ART RELIGIEUX 1933 LA PSALLETTE NANTES 1933, 414'.
