Traces of polychromy (probably 19th century): red (inside of the Virgin's veil; lining of clothes).
Reverse
Curved. Scoring. Modern inscriptions; Soprintendenza label with inscription '4943'.
Object Condition
The Virgin's nose is chipped.
Provenance
Collection of cardinal Stefano Borgia (d. 1815); part of the collections of the Real Museo Borbonico which, in 1860, became the Museo Nazionale; transferred in 1957 to the Museo di Capodimonte.
