Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: red (veil).

Reverse
The back is projecting forward so that the cross section of this piece is slightly triangular. Chamfered on both edges.

Object Condition
Missing: lower part of the piece, right and left colonnettes, lower part of the Virgin's robe. Two holes after modern reparation, one with a metal screw. Trace left by a horizontal metal strip linking these two holes.

Provenance
Acquired in 1883 from art dealer Michel (rue Pelletier) by Bruno Vayson, first husband of Marie Labadié, for 120 francs; Marie, following the death of her second husband, Louis Grobet, in 1917, gave her collection to the city of Marseille in 1919; the museum opened to the public in 1925.
