Ivory

Height: 98mm
Width: 71mm

Side 1: Saint Catherine of Alexandria; broken wheel; martyr's palm. Saint Margaret emerging from the dragon, holding a crucifix.
Side 2: Saint Anne teaching the Virgin how to read; saint Mary Magdalene with ointment pot.
Brickwork or tiled roof; columns; pinnacles.

Museum's opinion 2012: French (Paris), 15th century.

Reverse
Carved on both sides. Blue and white label on the saint Anne side with inscription: '524'.

Object Condition
Central hole at the upper part of the panel for suspension. 6 holes along one side, possibly to articulate this panel with another one.

Provenance
Collection of Charles Piet-Lataudrie (d. 1909); Piet-Lataudrie bequest to the Museum in 1914 (lot 1, no. 147).
