Adoration of the Magi.
Two angels swinging censers in the upper spandrels; two musician angels in the lower spandrels (trumpet and string instrument).
Border of dentils.

Berliner 1926: France.
Randall 1993: English, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.
Munich 2010 and Museum's opinion 2014: probably English, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Blue and white labels with inscriptions: '404' pasted over '1108'?. Label with inscription '389'. Ink inscription: 'Nr. 1408'.
An area along the lower edge and the outer edge seems to have been filed at the back.

Object Condition
Left hand of the king pointing at the star damaged.

Comments
The left wing is now part of the Thomson Collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (107363). See related object.

Provenance
Collection of Andreas Ulrich Mayr (b. 1732, d. 1802), councillor and chaplain at the court of the Regensburg prince-bishops (Regensburger Fürstbischöflicher Rat und Hofkaplan): his sale, 1803, lot 177; acquired at this sale for the royal collections; transferred to the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich in 1866.
