Winged God of Love in a tree throwing arrows at lovers; courting couples (meeting of lovers); youth kneeling before a lady (offering of the heart?); birds; trees.
Corner terminals: crouching monsters.
Masks in the spandrels.

Williamson 2002: France, probably Paris, c. 1350-1375.
Museum's opinion 2009: French (Paris), c. 1330.

Reverse
Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. Blue and white label with the inscription: 'Collection Wernher no. 92'.

Six holes.

Collection of Émile Gavet: his sale, Paris, 31 May-9 June 1897, lot 320, pl. XXX; Collection of Sir Julius Wernher (d. 1912), Bath House, London; on loan to English Heritage and displayed at Ranger's House since 2002.
