Standing Virgin and Child; Christ seated on left arm; bare-chested Christ; Christ holding a book in his right hand; crown.

Pagaczewski 1897: probably France, end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: red (drapery of the Virgin's dress).

Carved in the round but lower relief on the back.

Object Condition
The Virgin formerly wore a later metal crown. Missing: parts of three fingers of Virgin's right hand; object (probably stem of flowers) in the Virgin's right hand; Christ's left hand, head and neck. Two holes at the back of the Virgin's veil. Damaged along the right side at the back. Three holes in maphorion. Dark stains on the reverse.

On loan since 1995 to the Wawel Royal Castle from the Convent of the Reformed Franciscans in Cracow.
