Silver and bronze (frame);ivory or alabaster

Height: 210 mm (with frame)
Width: 120 mm (with frame)
Depth: 70 mm (with frame and handle)

Death of the Virgin (Dormition); Christ holding the soul of the Virgin; apostles.
Pointed trefoils.

Museum's opinion 2014: 2nd half of the 14th century; frame and handle: 16th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Extensive traces of later gilding and polychromy: gold (hair, architectural details, clothing; haloes), red and blue (clothing, architectural details), green (clothing).

Reverse
Back of the ivory panel hidden by the frame. Decorated handle.

Provenance
Considered to have belonged to Alonso Velázquez, Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela (1583-1587).
