Traces of gilding.

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: right hand of the Virgin. Cracked.
Holes on either side of the head of the Virgin, probably to attach a crown. Two holes on the back of Christ's head.

Provenance
Said to have come from the ancient abbey of Aulne. Treasury of the priory of Saint-Nicolas d'Oignies; entrusted to the Soeurs de Notre-Dame in 1818; given to the Fondation Roi Baudouin, 9 June 2010; entrusted to the Société archéologique de Namur since 13 September 2010 to be exhibited at the Namur Museum.
